DESCRIPTION:The Running Scared 5k was first started in 2008.  It is a flat 3.1 mile course through a “spooky” cemetery\, ending at a fabulous Halloween Fest! DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 7th and final year of the Kat Walk! We are continuing to honor Katherine this year by making the 7th year the final year since 7 was Katherine’s favorite number. This year’s Kat Walk will again be a 3K walk to local Hamilton businesses to raise money and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. Donations and a scholarship to be awarded in honor of Katherine Schindler. The proceeds of this event are donated to several organizations close to her heart and ours: NAMI\, 1N5\, Fernside\, and Donate Life (in her passing\, Katherine was able to gift organs to others). Katherine was a 2014 graduate of Badin H.S. and as such we award a scholarship to a graduating student that possesses a little of Katherine’s passion and compassion. Joined by a common connection to Parkinson Disease\, these groups come together to assure that the support services so vital to a full and active life are available to their loved ones. Teams take on their own personalities and make sure to include fun as a focus of the day. And they can get pretty competitive when it comes to number of participants and funds raised. \nSupport for the teams frequently ranges beyond immediate\, even extended\, families and circle of friends.
